GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS IN JULY 2009
21 Apr 2009
The elections for a new government will take place in the beggining of July. The exact date is not known yet. Two are the major parties that are trying to win the vote of people "BSP" and "GERB". GERB and its leader Boiko Borissov (now major of Sofia) are confident to win. Borissov said that if he can't form a government on his own and has to make a coalition, BSP is not among the parties to make a coalition with.
On the other hand Stanishev (actual prime minister and leader of BSP) will not try to make any coalitions with GERB.
Bulgarian parliament recently voted an increase of the barrier for entering in the parliament. Pre-electoral coalitions wil have to gain 8% of the actual votes to enter in parliament, and single parities will need 4%.
